NASEM Holds Public Summit on Preventing Sexual Harassment in STEMM
The National Academies of Sciences Engineering and Medicine (NASEM) Action Collaborative on Preventing Sexual Harassment in STEMM 2019 Public Summit was held at the University of Washington, Seattle, WA on Nov 19-20th. This was the first annual Summit of the Action Collaborative and its goal was to identify and elevate promising practices for preventing sexual harassment in higher education. Through a combination of plenary sessions, panel discussions, and concurrent sessions, this day-and-a-half event served as an opportunity for members of the Action Collaborative and the broader higher education community to gather information, engage in a dialogue, and gain diverse perspectives on how to effectively prevent sexual harassment. Billy Williams, AGU’s Vice President, Ethics, Diversity, and Inclusion and Co-Chair of the Executive Committee of the Societies Consortium and Jamie Lewis Keith, Partner, EducationCounsel participated on the panel leading the plenary discussion: Building Bridges between Academic Institutions and Professional/Scientific Societies.
