Hearing on The STEM Opportunities Act of 2019 (May 9, 2019): In early May the House introduced a bill to support policy reforms and research and data collection to understand and lower barriers faced by women and minority researchers in academia and federal laboratories. The Committee on Science, Space, and Technology held hearings on May 9, 2019 on “Achieving the Promise of a Diverse STEM Workforce.” Shirley Malcom, the Co-Vice Chair of the Societies Consortium’s Executive Committee, was one of 5 witnesses who testified at the hearing.
